Seeking God's Heart Together for Trinity's Future

Prayer Points for Congregational Reflection and Candidate Discernment

Pray for Spiritual Discernment and Trust in God's Leading:

Ask God to give us wisdom and spiritual discernment to joyfully receive the pastor He has chosen. Pray for hearts that are willing to surrender personal preferences and expectations, trusting that God’s will is better and His ways are higher.

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” [James 1:5, Psalm 25:9, Romans 12:1]

Lord, we come before You seeking wisdom that is pure, peace-loving, and full of mercy. Teach us to lay down our personal agendas, our assumptions, and our preferences at Your feet. Give us hearts that are soft and teachable, able to discern not by appearance or emotion, but by Your Spirit. As we walk through this season, align our hearts with Yours and reveal to us the shepherd You have already prepared for Trinity. Help us to trust in Your timing and Your choice, with confidence that You are leading us in love and truth. Amen.

Pray for Unity in Christ and Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit:

Ask God to unite our hearts in love and purpose, keeping us aligned with His Spirit and guarding us from division during this time of decision and transition.

Ephesians 4:3: "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."

Lord, unite us in Your Spirit. Strengthen our faith and trust in You. Make us aware of Your Spirit’s working during this time, and give us ears to hear and hearts that are sensitive to Your guidance. Let love and peace reign among us as we walk forward in unity. Amen.

Pray for the Candidates' Hearts:

Lift up Pastor Caleb and Pastor Jason as they seek God's will. Ask for clarity, peace, and joyful obedience as they discern where God is leading them next.

Psalm 32:8: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you."

Lord, we lift up Pastor Caleb and Pastor Jason as they seek Your will. Surround them with Your peace and remove any pressure or confusion that could cloud their discernment. Fill their hearts with joyful obedience and confidence that You are leading them. Bless their families and ministries as they wait on You, and give them assurance that their steps are established by Your hand. Amen.

Pray for Confidence in God's Sovereignty and Mission:

Pray that we would rest in God’s control over this process and remain faithful to our mission to make and multiply disciples.

Proverbs 16:9: "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." [Matthew 28:19-20]

Lord, help us remain faithful to Your Great Commission. Empower us to multiply disciples and to share the gospel wherever we go. Guide us to remain steadfast in our calling as we transition to the next chapter of Trinity’s life. May Your mission remain central in all we do. Amen.

Pray for Gratitude and Honor for Pastor Steve:

Thank God for Pastor Steve's faithful ministry and ask for His blessing, strength, and peace in Steve's next season.

Hebrews 13:7: "Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith."

Lord, thank You for Pastor Steve’s many years of faithful service. He has been our pastor, discipler, spiritual father, mentor, and friend. Through his words and life, he has pointed us to Jesus again and again. We are grateful for his love, wisdom, and steady presence in all seasons. Bless him and Margaret in the next chapter of their journey—strengthen, refresh, and fill them with peace and joy.

Lord, we lift up Pastor Josh and Jessie as they serve during this transition. Give them both wisdom, grace, and strength as his role expands. May his partnership with the new lead pastor bring You honor and bear fruit.

Help us honor Pastor Steve’s legacy by living out the faith he shaped in us, trusting You with confidence for the new season ahead at Trinity. Amen.

Pray for Protection from Fear, Anxiety, and Human Thinking:

Ask God to calm our fears and anxieties during this season of change. Pray that we would be guarded from the pull of human reasoning, emotional unrest, or doubt, and instead be anchored in God's perfect peace and unshakable promises.

Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." [1 Sam 16:7, Matthew 16:18]

Lord, in this time of waiting and discernment, we confess how fear and worry can creep in. Calm every anxious thought and guard our hearts with peace that surpasses understanding. Teach us to resist human reasoning and unrest. Jesus, You are our Cornerstone, foundation, and Rock upon which we stand. Nothing the enemy can do will prevail against You or Your Church. Strengthen our faith, unite our hearts, and lead us forward in confidence, grounded in Your victory and love. Amen.

Pray for Fasting and Deeper Dependence on God:

Pray for encouragement and strength for those led to fast—whether from food or distractions—to use this time to deepen their dependence on God, seeking clarity, wisdom, and peace during the call process. Fasting can help refocus our hearts on prayer and reflection.

Acts 13:2–3: "While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off." [Joel 2:12, Matthew 6:16-18]

Lord, as we fast and pray, quiet every competing voice. Draw us near, deepen our dependence, and speak clearly through Your Spirit. Strengthen us in humility and faith, and lead us to the shepherd You are preparing for this body. Amen.
